Rumen by-pass Fat is a rumen inert fat designed to provide the extra energy lactating dairy cows require without causing the rumen problems associated with feeding tallow, and oil seeds. Rumen by-pass Fat contains 2.25 times more energy than proteins and carbohydrates. Handling & Processing Attributes Rumen By-pass Fat is suitable for use in all commercial dry feeds, total mixed rations, and on-farm top dressing programs. Rumen by-Pass Fat is a free-flowing, dry granular material that can be shipped in bags and does not melt or freeze during storage. Rumen By-Pass Fat’s inclusion rate in pelleted feeds is not limited because of physical stability. (Consult your feed representative for more detailed pelleting guidelines.) Feed Rumen By-pass fat anytime cows require additional energy for milk production and to maintain body condition. Feed between 0.25 lbs/cow/day (0.11 kg/cow/day) and 2.0 lbs./cow/day (0.91 kg/cow/day) depending on cow’s energy requirements. Begin feeding 21 days prior to calving at a rate of 0.25-lbs./cow/ day (0.11 kg/cow/day) and gradually increase feeding rate in 0.25 lb increments until desired feeding level is attained.
Insure that sufficient protein and amino acid requirements are being met to balance with the additional energy being supplemented. Follow good managment practices and supply clean fresh water at all times. Keep in a cool dry place.
